Two Lovely New Releases for 2016

David Austin’s new English Rose varieties will be available at leading garden centres and retailers from winter 2016. English Roses combine the charm and fragrance of old roses, with the wider colour range and repeat-flowering of modern roses. They thrive in the Australian climate.

TRANQUILLITY (Ausnoble) - Beautifully shaped blooms with neatly placed petals that make up perfect rosettes. The opening buds are lightly tinged yellow at first, later becoming pure white. The growth is vigorous, upright and bushy. It is almost thornless and very healthy. Light ‘apple’ fragrance.
1.3 x 1m

WOLLERTON OLD HALL (Ausblanket) - Plump buds with flashes of red open to beautiful chalice-shaped blooms of soft apricot which pale to cream. It is one of the most fragrant of all the David Austin Roses with an intensely floral scent in the myrrh family with hints of apricot. It forms a particularly healthy, upright, bushy shrub with few thorns. It can be grown either as a large shrub of around 1.6 x 1.25m or up to 3m as a climber.

During the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS ) Rose Introducers of Australia (RIAUS) will have another fabulous rose display. Do come along and see our members, smell the roses and talk about roses with the experts.

Put your nose in a Rose!

MIFGS - Royal Exhibition Buildings and Carlton Gardens, Melbourne, March 16-20, 2016.
Plants will be available through winter and then in pots though spring, summer and autumn.

There is no other plant that can match the rose for fragrance in both variety and sheer strength. Therefore adding roses to a border will add an extra dimension. What greater delight is there in the garden than to bury one’s nose in a gloriously fragrant bloom!
