Announcing RHS Garden Bridgewater

The Royal Horticultural Society has found its fifth RHS Garden; and it is a truly wonderful site in the heart of the North West called Worsley New Hall in Salford, Greater Manchester. The site forms part of the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater’s estate.

The garden will be called RHS Garden Bridgewater and we will create this stunning new 156 acre garden by bringing back to life the lost historic grounds of this magnificent Victorian estate. Highlights of the new garden will include the restoration of the ten acre Walled Kitchen Garden, one of the largest in the UK. The RHS will also build a new Learning Centre for schools for the benefit of thousands of young people in the region.

RHS Director General, Sue Biggs, says: “We always thought it would take us a long time to find the ideal site for our fifth garden, but with its beautiful landscapes, good public transport links and outstanding location, Worsley New Hall was an opportunity we couldn’t miss."

The new garden is planned to open in 2019 as part of our wider ten year investment programme to achieve our Vision to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.

We will keep you updated with developments at RHS Garden Bridgewater through The Garden magazine, our e-newsletters and via the garden's brand new Twitter account, @RHSBridgewater. We look forward to welcoming you to our new garden in 2019.
