Join us for this Green Space Event in Melbourne’s CBD

A pop up green space, promoting the positive impact of green spaces on the environment, and the mental and physical health benefits they provide, will be erected and exhibited in Melbourne’s CBD for 24 hours on Monday 12th October 2015.

The pop up space is a collaboration between the Nursery & Garden Industry, Landscaping Victoria and Turf Victoria, and has been designed by multi-award winning Landscape Designer Mark Browning (Cycas Landscape  Design). The space aims to highlight the importance of green spaces in an urban environment, with Mark demonstrating how a changing climate can be resisted through a move from ‘Grey to Green’.

Green spaces are undervalued assets and their public and private forms are in decline across Australia. It’s time that their value is recognised not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for how they improve our lives and promote physical and mental wellbeing. The green space also aims to develop a public understanding of Melbourne as an urban heat island and demonstrate how turf, trees, and shrubs, can help to counteract the effects of the city’s rising temperature.

The 24-hour pop up green space will be open to the general public in Bourke Street Mall on Monday 12th October 2015.
